Hey everyone,

My apologies if this has been done before (@Beekay feel free to close this topic if it is old), but I thought it would be cool to share any experiences you have had meeting the band or talking to them on social media etc. They are fairly private people so it's always nice to see when they interact with their fans :)

I absolutely flipped out when Richard, on his Emigrate twitter account, said 3 little words to me. For that split second that he wrote back to me, I existed in his world lol. I took screenshots of it:

It's not much of a communication, I know, but I live in Australia and this may be the closest I ever come to seeing or talking to the band lol!

So share your experiences :)

^ Of course you're excited. :D I think it was sweet.

***

I've met them and talked to them a few times. The first time was at a signing in Stockholm 2012. I told Till I really like his poetry and he should keep writing more. He reached for my hand and thanked me, very sincerely.
After the concert that night I was invited to the after party and my friends and I got to talk to Paul for a little while. He came up to us and asked why we were speaking English with each other. "Are you not Swedish?"(we're foreigners so we always speak English). Very sweet and kind. Before he left, he hugged me, shook hands with friends and told us all to go inside because we were cold.

I saw them live in 2013 as well and Paul and Till came and waved at me and my friend backstage, but I didn't talk to them.

In June 2014 I met at a Biergarten in Berlin when I went to watch football at a public viewing place. When I went to have a drink, Ollie was in front of me in the line. He is seriously tall! I met Joe Letz (also crazy tall!) who wandered around looking for them and then when I was going to the restaurant, Schneider was standing right by the entrance. So I took the chance to talk to him and he was very sweet. When I sat down to have some dinner I ended up sitting right among them. Paul was sitting next to me and Richard was standing next to him. Jacob Hellner, their producer was there too and I kind of forced him to be my photographer. I just shoved the camera in his hand and said "Do you mind?". Richard yelled at him when he couldn't figure out the camera. :rolling: Richard also told me to stand in the middle, instead of next to them, and he actually grabbed my arms and moved me over.
I talked to them and some of their friends for a little while, they were all very sweet and kind. I didn't talk to Ollie, he was having a family dinner and not even the band bothered him that time. His wife was sweet though and she held the door open for me when I went inside. They all said goodbye when I left.

In December 2014 in Berlin I went out for a beer with my husband on my birthday. It was late in the evening and we went to a quiet little place. Richard and Flake were standing outside talking to some friends. Richard said "Hey" and nodded at us when we approached the restaurant, then got out of the way so we could get in. Flake smiled and sort of said hi. They just greeted us the way you would be normally polite to anyone here.
Inside the restaurant Paul and Till were having dinner with some friends. At a table close to us. My birthday is 2 days after Paul's, so they were having a small birthday dinner. Paul looked over at me a few times and smiled at me wen I looked at him.
The restaurant closed after a little while and we all left at the same time, so my husband and I took the chance to talk to Till and Paul. They were very polite, calm, friendly and curious and we talked for a little while. None of them had a problem switching between English and German (my husband doesn't speak much German) and at the end Till switched to English with me as well so that my husband wouldn't be left out. He was very curious about what we were doing, where we were staying and so on. Paul also asked my husband some things.

In September 2015 in Berlin I went to the signing at Kino International. While me and very few fans were waiting outside, Jacob Hellner came by and wasn't let in at first (their own producer had to wait outside! :rolling: ). He looked over at me with this puzzled look for a moment and then looked at me once more as he went inside. He came back out and greeted the fans and then he just leaned up against the fence and talked to us like we had known each other for a long time. I told him that we had met before and that I forced him to be my photographer then. His face lit up and he said: "Oh that's right, the Portugal game!". He actually remembered me. Very kind and sweet man as well.
Inside at the signing Till recognised me and I talked to him for a moment. It's a pretty cool feeling when your favourite rock stars remember you.
I was handed a free ticket to see the documentary and live concert there at teh cinema that night. I honestly don't know how I manged to be that lucky.

In December 2015 my husband and I went out to a small pub one evening and we got to sit right next to Schneider who was having dinner with a friend. He looked at us a few times and when we both got up I asked him for a photo and he was very friendly and sweet, to my husband as well. When he left later on he smiled at me and said goodbye in German, then tapped my husband's arm and said goodbye to him in English. Just to make sure he understood.

I've seen them a few more times in Berlin. Flake and his wife walked past us a few times one night, Paul and his wife have walked by in my neighbourhood with their little dog, I've sen Paul's son here a few times as well and Schneider was sitting outside a bar one evening. My husband bumped into Ollie a few times in our old neighbourhood.
I'm not going to talk to them every time I see them. Only if there is actually and opportunity to do so and be polite. I've never asked them for an autograph when I met them and I never asked them anything about R+ . It's not so important to me. They have all been very willing to be in a photo with me.

It's really cool to meet the people I've admired since 1999 and then have been so friendly and sweet to me. It surprised me as well how willing they have been to tell me, my husband and my friends things while we were having a conversation. So calm and natural.

^ oh wow! You've had so many encounters! You are so very lucky :)
Richard sounds a bit like the joker of the group (next to Paul of course) but that could also be because he likes the attention :rolling:

I am going to have to save up some serious money to travel overseas to see them live I think. They have only been here twice and only played the Big Day Out but that festival has been cancelled, as has Soundwave : ( I really don't think it's worth it for them to come here and do their own tour outside of festivals, seeing as they have to ship all their gear by boat which is very expensive!

^Kettenhund pretty much lives right next to them haha!
Ive met the whole band during the same signing as kettenhund.
And now in December 2015 I was a bit drunk, while walking home in prenzlauer berg. I was a bit abnoxious and I was listening to Links 2 3 4 pretty loud. (My headphones leak alot)
I walked by Flake, and he looked at me with a grin. Being drunk I didn't understand it was him at first.
Ive seen Paul in Prenzlauer berg aswell, but if you know where he lives. Then it's not really hard to spot him

Wow those are some nice experiences with R+
@Kettenhund your stories inspire me on the sense that some people have the tendency to believe it's impossible to meet in person with their favorite artists and it keeps happening to you and all is so natural. I think that is the ideal way of meeting with a well appreciated celebrity. Some of my friends tell me about experiences meeting their favorite musicians and they describe it in a similar matter than yours. The best part is the surprise factor, that is on unexpected events. :-)

@Kruspe12 I am so happy for you on the twitter reply. Richard seems so grateful to his fans and puts a lot of effort on doing an excellent work as a musician. My biggest respect to him and his band Emigrate. I would feel in cloud nine if that happens to me.

@Engel_Star I was actually surprised Richard used any form of social media. I thought it would have all been their management using the accounts so it was a nice surprise :)

@Kettenhund Must have been so nice meeting the guys under such relaxed circumstances :)

^ It's been great to be able to have just a normal conversation with them. :)

And they are sweet. Till even asked me and my husband if we had time to stay and talk for a little while. "Please don't go, I'll be right there!"
The first time I met Schneider, he put his arm around me and told me I was pretty. I nearly fainted.
Paul is actually very calm and serious and they all listen very carefully when you talk to them and they ask you things.

I've shared my photos here on RR:

Indirectly R+ but Paul's son Emil and I follow each other on twitter and we've talked there a few times. He seems really nice and has his own music group that I thoroughly enjoy.

I met them on the MiG tour when I went to the show in my hometown of Birmingham, England. My friends and I were invited to the after party by a member of the R+ crew before the show began. I shook Richard's hand and nearly died at how gorgeous he is in the flesh (and how much bigger he is too when you're standing in front of him!) briefly met Till who was quiet but gracious, had a little chat to Schneider but we didn't speak for long. He seemed very shy to me but gave me a lovely big hug! Paul was the most gregarious, he was very welcoming and gentlemanly, kissed my hand and then my cheek and gave me a big hug too :D I mostly hung out with the Deathstars at the after party, having Cat Casino ply me with vodka and him and my best friend inventing a game that involved throwing Skittles down my top :rolling: lmao!

@nola wow what an experience! I don't imagine seeing Richard in person-so gorgeous! And Paul seems like the most outgoing of the group. Till looks so serious (almost scary onstage) but I get the impression he is very polite-a friend of mine had the chance to meet them in person and described him in a similar way than you do. :D :r+fire:
Ladies you're fortunate on having those opportunities. ^_^

Well, turns out my puppy dog is getting popular on Richard's Facebook page! Teehee!
I took a picture of her with the new RZK wristband on, and it's had over 300 likes already!

Still annoyed his team called me Cata... my name is CARA!

But yes, I was pretty stoked to wake up to this this morning! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I was invited to a football event here in Berlin today. I was sitting in the VIP area and Richard was sitting in front of me, Paul and his son Emil behind me. I didn't talk much to them but we said hi. During the football game a very bored Paul suddenly called out loudly in German: "we want a goal now please!"
And there was this loud annoying German guy there roaring now and then and Richard f*ckin hated him. :rolling: I did too and at one point Richard and I looked right at each other, both smiled and shook our heads, like "this guy is just too much."

Even though I didn't talk much to them, it's cool to be invited to the same event and sit between them. I will be sitting in the same spot next week, maybe I'll see them again. They are very relaxed and friendly, just like every time I have met them. Their friends are lovely too.
