I've just been promoted. :o :eee: Or rather... I was actually promoyed like twice within 7 minutes.

The guy who works in the office at my church called me and told me our priests will be away a few more days, so the old bishop will lead the mass again. Right before mass we have adoration, where the tabernacle is opened. The bishop is too old and doesn't want to climb up there, so he gives me that duty instead. I've done it a few times before and it's an honor. ^_^

A few minutes later the priest called and asked me to lead the Mary devotion tomorrow. You usually have to be consecrated to this, but with permission from the priests anyone can do it. I've lead rosary prayers many times, but now I will be choosing and leading the songs as well and write a short sermon about Mary.

I'm happy. ^_^ :bounce:

It means a lot that the priests and bishops trust me to do these things.

Edit: It was quite powerful when the bishop asked me to sing the response in front of an almost full church. He was happy to see me do it and people told me they liked it.

^ Something fun to look forward to! :D

My work at the church is much appreciated, which is a good feeling. The priest is now considering recommending me to the bishop, so that I can take part in the training and studies to become Eucharistic minister next year. That's about as much as you can do in the church without being a priest. I'm hoping it will happen. :) We'll see what he and the bishop say.

I´m thinking about how much I need to get some work done, but also how little motivation I have right now. Not the best combo

Emotional day. At the church we had a special day where we remembered both the "Reichspogromnacht" , the night 7 1938 when the Nazis burned all the synagogues and we remembered the fall of the wall. A Jewish professor came from the synagogue to sing and pray with us, Dr. Andras Varga, a holocaust survivor. Our church has always worked together with the Jews. They hid 500 Jews in the basement during ww2 and it is one of very few buildings that did not get destroyed. Two bombs actually hit the church, none of them exploded and hardly left any damage.
I was asked to read this long text to the congregation about what happened that night 1938. To stand there in the middle of Berlin, in our church, so close to the synagogue with Dr. Varga there and mention all those things people did was suddenly overwhelming. It was very hard not to cry.

During the Mass we had a large piece of the Berlin Wall lying on the altar. Pretty powerful reminders of what has happened in this country and this city.

Last Sunday we celebrated Blessed Bernhard Lichtenberg, a local Saint and hero. The only bishop who stood up against the Nazis and defended the Jews. He is buried in the main cathedral and the Mass is held over his grave by our current bishop. That was also pretty powerful.

I got an answer from the priests about my duty in the church. I will have to wait, but they said yes. :yay: I will be ordained Eucharistic Minister in 1 or 2 years. Then I'll get to go to the Catholic academy and then the bishop will ordain me during a big ceremony at the main cathedral. :bounce:

@Colette just across the road this time
We are currently renting the place we are in and long term want to buy. I even wanted to buy this place but the owner is not interested in selling it.
We found a lovely family home literally just across the road from wherr we are now. We have made an offer which has been accepted but there is another couple that made an offer first. The agent is giving them 3 days to come up with the money (they are mortgaging the full amount, we made a cash offer) and if they can't it goes to us. So we are hoping...

I tried to log on 2 days ago on my laptop to post new pics of Till but couldn't log on for some odd reason. I will get to the bottom of it and try again
