@ Finsternis: Your writing skills don´t suck! Your writing is pretty good!

@all: You´re doing a pretty good job in writing in German!

So, ich muss noch ein bisschen arbeiten und dann die Jugend trainieren.

Heh, the so far most useful thing I've been taught was in my first German lesson a bit over a year ago. It's this:
Ich bin Ausländer und spreche nicht gut Deutsch.

I think I'm going to go far just with this sentence. :)

I have a phrase a day calendar and I thought {after reading the weather thread} that this word might be cute for all of those in cold areas:

Schneeballschlacht!

Snowball fight

Im Moment schneit es auch bei uns, aber der Schnee schmilzt gleich wieder weg... :?

@RK: You´re quite right, but you could say "ich bin IM falschen Bundesland" to make it shorter and easier to speak :)

May I ask for the differences between "in" and "im", and when the two are used? I'm not quite clear, so this seems like a good time to ask. "Im" is something like "in the", and so it seems to be able to replace the article?

You could say that. "Im" is the short form for "in dem" e.g. "Ich wohne im falschen Bundesland". If you want to state precisely in which state you are living in you can say either "Ich wohne in dem/im Bundesland Bayern" or "Ich wohne in Bayern". I hope this helps :)

For the sections question: I think it would be a good idea to start threads like the ones we already have in the chit&chat section. I think it would be easier to learn in phrases like talking about the weather and how people are feeling. At least this is the way we learn English over here.

yeah just simple conversation threads that arent about a particular topic can be quite useful. but other separate threads for how one's day is, is also a good idea. imo, off topic threads arent necessarily a bad thing.

Maybe a thread for 'how is the weather today?' and one for 'what are you doing/how are you doing?'
And then one for people to ask questions like 'how do I say this?'
That could be a general chit chat thread unless you guys think that the questions would get lost in the chatting.
Do you guys think that would work? :)
