Here in Italy (church.....) unfortunately I don't see it happening very soon.
And I am sorry about it.
I agree with it, it should be allowed everywhere.

Prop 8 and DOMA struck down by Supreme Court! Marriage equality is now legal and up and running in my state of California! Proud to be a Californian.

I know I'm a couple of days late on it. Making progress! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I believe I'll be quite all right by the time I'm 18, the way states are passing the marriage equality laws. Even if not, however, I plan on moving to Seattle, WA, which is a state that has already legalized gay marriage. It should've been done a long time ago. Think about it the way my girlfriend does (I'm not big on getting married because of my parents' miserable marriage they're stuck in): Let's say your partner was in the hospital, on life support. You, the other partner, could not choose whether they live or die because you are not next of kin. It's not just the getting married part, it's being able to take care of each other in the same ways straight married couple can.

^Your thoughts very much remind me of the story of a man losing his husband to Lou Gehrig's disease, and because their marriage initially wasn't recognised in their residing state, they couldn't be buried next to one another. They appealed and won! Here's a brief article on the case - http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/ ... uried.html

John can now pass peacefully without having that worry over his head, that he and his beloved can't be buried next to each other. It's so sad, bittersweet though.

Sorry to say it will no longer be passed here. Our new prime minister is a devout catholic who opposes gay marriage (and equal roles for women) I feel under the old government this is something that may have been passed in the not to distant future but will no longer happen under the new government.

my 2 cents:

I am a rabid LGBT rights supporter. I'm a proud bisexual woman, always preferred other women. :)
Human rights. Not a hard concept to grasp, folks.

My brother is in a civil partnership. These have been around for a while in the UK but its still not equality. Everyone should be able to have a conventional marriage, not something invented that's 'like' getting married. It's almost here though, and the naysayers are being shouted down. It's clerics that are the problem. Regardless of the law, some vicars will 'bless' a union while a priest will condemn same sex union while praying on small boys. Go figure. Wherever you are, good luck in your fight. Your strength and fortitude is astounding, and something for everyone to aim for.
