This starts with a bunch of us eating lunch at our fav restaurant. :coffee: :icetea: :tea:

Nicholas Cage came up in conversation.
Johnnie Depp was on my mind :fire:

So - an action type movie starring those two, music by R+ and Nina Hagen, stunts with Vin Diesel  and Ahhhnold (now that he's "acting" again) and directed by - Tarantino?

(Needs more female "talent" - but I know no names :sped: the kind who do their own stunts, etc.)

All very tongue-in-cheek, of course. Or as Till said in one of those old interviews about R+ "...ein bisschen bisschen komisch". :rolling:

Is this limited to stuff we make up, or can we also talk about books and such that we would like to see in movie form?

I don't like to limit discussions, myself. So if it's up to me, I'd say any movie or series you (or anyone) would like to see works - no matter where it came from.

After all, you can't ALL come to lunch with us! :rolling:

I want an X-Files 3 movie!!

Apparently there is a script in the works by Chris Carter :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The plot is rumored to be the final alien invasion - so lots of Mulder and Scully chasing and fighting supersoldiers and shape shifting alien human hybrids :D :D

Thanks, Moreach. :) I just wanted to make sure what I wanted to say wasn't going to be off-topic.

The very first thing I thought of when I saw this thread was how I've been waiting for "Artemis Fowl" in movie format for SO LONG. Movie people started throwing around the concept in 2008, and four years later, it still hasn't happened. HMPH.

Also, I would like a much better rendition of "A Series of Unfortunate Events." That horrible excuse of a movie with Jim Carrey made me so angry. Events out of order, making references to later books when the movie only covered the first three, the horrid inaccuracies of the portrayals of Count Olaf and Sunny...UGH.

I've read that they're working on a film / series of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, but I haven't read anything about a cast / director / etc being decided yet, or that they've even started filming yet. I'm very curious to see how this would turn out!

Other books I'd like to see turned into movies or series are probably most fantasy books I've read :D

^ Yes, I've read about this also. Ron Howard is supposed to be the producer. The problem they're having right now is finding a studio that'll come on board for the idea. Universal had it initially, but they dropped. Warner Bros. then decided they wanted it, but they also dropped it (rather recently, too, if I read correctly). As far as casting is concerned, all I've come across is a bunch of speculation.

Looking forward to that final alien invasion in the X-Files movie, if it comes to fruition. Hard to believe it's been over ten years of waiting for that.

I would like to see a TV series based on Carl Sagan's "The Demon-Haunted World", much like his series called "Cosmos" (Also based on a book he'd written). Carl may be gone, but they're remaking Cosmos with Neil deGrasse Tyson as the host, so I don't think it's a stretch to adapt more of his writings into television series. The Demon-Haunted World is, like much of Carl Sagan's works, a compelling argument for the scientific method as a means of shining light through the darkness of ignorance, superstition, and pseudoscience.
For anyone unfamiliar with Carl Sagan: The original series "Cosmos" is well-worth a watch, and his love for astronomy and his method of conveying the sheer awe of the universe is really touching. In fact, you may have already seen a movie based on his works; the movie, "Contact", was based on a science-fiction novel he wrote based on his personal speculations as an astronomer regarding the nature of alien life and intelligence.

That sounds great! I have seen his "Cosmos" and it was excellent. I'm thrilled deGrasse Tyson is going to host an update, he has a wonderful TV presence and is a fine scientist himself. Plus, I would think anything based on Sagan's work would be well worth seeing!

I'm a fan of the Anita Blake vampire hunter books. I heard years ago that a tv series/film was in talks but nothing after that :(

Another X Files movie
Stephen King books (that haven't already been turned into movies)
Ocean's Fourteen (they're good movies)
Iron Man 3 (apparently being made)

@Jette a mini series of Bag of Bones was recently released - in my opinion one of Stephen King's best novels...have you seen it?
