Boingo by Boingo

Boingo is the final form of the band that started with the fantastical name of The Mystical Knights of the Oingo Boingo. This album, which is also their final studio album, was released in 1993 and followed by their much-ado Farewell tour in 1996. Those who are anticipating their long standing dance rock/punk hyperness are in for a drastic shock; this album is perhaps their darkest and most brooding work, with Danny's giggly voice replaced with a melodic, mournful tone with an angry edge that bites and never lets go. This is stamped into your forehead just with the name and subject matter of the first song . . . I will be reviewing my top 3 choices from this album in order of appearance.

1.) Insanity - In fact this is the first song that I had heard that introduced me to Oingo Boingo. The beginning is slow with a building war-drum like cadence hitting with the first words sung through almost frightened tones, "I'm so sorry, please forgive me. Who do I pray to, to straighten out this problem?" The story of a mentally-troubled man seeking redemption from the 'Christian sons and Christian daughters', yet at the same time he speaks with increasing anger about his view on how he is treated by those same people and how he wants to first protect, then sadistically observe the anguish of, then finally destroy the listener. Just listening to the song leaves you feeling like you are losing your mind . . .

2.) Pedestrian Wolves - Starts with a dirty riff played over disjointed beats and notes, then the lyrics grind in with a bluesy feel but louder and the music seems to snap to attention and behave with their arrival. These preditory lyrics paint a what to any common joe would be a frightening picture but deliver it with seductive, delighted and salivating fangs.

3.) Change - The song of the hour, lasting over 15 minutes long and metamorphosising through intervals yet staying on the same subject. I absolutely love this piece because it speaks so many truths on so many different levels it boggles the mind. And Danny's voice is phenominal in this!

Krieger by, oddly enough, Krieger, hehe ;)

It's pretty cool. I like it, it's just plain old rock music.
However getting into another band managed by Pilgrim ...? I'm not a masochist :P

The last album I bought was Retaliation by Dane Cook. So funny, I almost can't listen to it in the car while driving. :rolling:

I should have posted months ago, but I bought Day & Age by The Killers, and it's really very good. Most of the songs have such catchy tunes that they get stuck in my head real easy. I'd recommend it to anyone, even though alot of people say that The Killers are Emo. So not true.

Black Gives Way To Blue - Alice in Chains

Great album. Vintage AiC.

Feel The Steel - Steel Panther

Hilarious lyrics by a 80's Metal parody band but they aren't ear friendly for young ones.

Quote Henny: "(actually, BeeKay bought it for me--thanks!)."

Only because you ASKED me to (and I was nice). *points and laughs* :P

"Enemies of Reality" - Nevermore. (I wanted Warrel Dane's album but it was no where to be found). :x

^ How is the new Cradle of Filth album? Last one I heard I was :brr:

BK, what do you think of Nevermore? I love them.

I bought:

"Asylum" by Disturbed

Over the last several years I have drastically stopped buying CD's, because I found that many bands sold out and/or these new bands aren't worth listening too, but today I bought this CD. I was cautious about it, but when I got into the car and started to play it, I had a renewed faith in Disturbed! After "Ten Thousand Fists" I was very eh on them, feeling they lost there sound, but with this album, I found the old Disturbed from "The Sickness" though not as heavy as that album, but this album leads back to the roots.

@Labyrinth88- I haven't listened to it all the way through yet, but I like what I've heard so far :-)

I finally got around to ordering Apocalyptica's 7th Symphony from amazon...now I just have to wait for it to show up in my mailbox.
