punk is fun. :) and if you like old-school punk, I hope you have checked out Feeling B and Die Firma from the annals of Rammstein history. ;) (I adore Feeling B....) some good modern German punk bands I have relatively recently become familiar with are Gottkaiser, Sprottenrock and Bluff, and then there is the inestimable WIZO (unfortunately no longer together). I am slowly exploring German punk, but I honestly don't have the time or money to really get into it seriously, there are a LOT of excellent bands out there with clever lyrics and catchy tunes....

oh yeah feeling b, im really not into german punk, i'll probably look into when i can find the music, as here in america, the people can really give a shit about german punk from the 70's and 80's. but that wont be until all thses stupid artists/bands get their heads out of their asses, and finally accept they arent everything.

1) KMFDM
2) The Adicts
3) Sex Pistols
4) Cheap Sex
5) Dropkick Murphys

This list's from the past two days, so uhm... yeah?

1. Mew
2. Feeling B
3. Billy Talent
4. RATM
5. Chisu

What I meant to say above was that I have only listened to 128 tracks during these two days, so that's not actually my top 5 bands at the moment... if that made any sense. Oh why am I even trying to explain this? There's no point!

@ Stahlgeist: I only know a couple of BOC songs, but from what I've heard, I like. And as for Alice Cooper - I've loved his work for one hell of a long time! (Once, I even picked up my daughter on the last day of school before summer holidays with School's Out blaring on my car stereo. Hopefully I didn't embarrass her too much. ) What are some of your favorite songs?

I've been fortunate enough to see Alice in concert a few years ago when he came here, and he's returning this October, too, so I'm going to be seeing him live once again. :D
Some of my favourite Alice Cooper songs are:

"Teenage Lament '74"
"Welcome to My Nightmare"
"Devil's Food/Black Widow"
"Years Ago/Steven"
"Brutal Planet" (The Brutal Planet and Dragontown albums took a metal approach, with a lot of social commentary. I recommend to at least check out the lyrics, some of which are pretty close to home and scary)
"From the Inside"
"Is It My Body?"
"Be My Lover"
"Feed My Frankenstein"
"Simple Disobedience"
"The World Needs Guts"
"Prettiest Cop on the Block" (Very catchy)
"Stolen Prayer" (Guest vocals by Chris Cornell, from the "The Last Temptation" album)
"Eat Some More" (From Brutal Planet)
"Pick Up the Bones" (Also from Brutal Planet. The most disturbing Alice song I've ever heard.)
"Halo of Flies" (From the Killer album)
"Shoe Salesman" (All the way back from the Easy Action album, his - I believe - second studio album. In the first and second albums, they sound like a demented version of The Beatles, and my mother didn't recognize him at all from listening to it.)
"Return of the Spiders" (From Easy Action)
"Beautiful Flyaway" (Easy Action, again)

And of course, you have the usual "I'm Eighteen", "School's Out", "Under My Wheels", and so on. Where Alice's history is so long and his style's changed a lot, you get a large variety and it's more likely that something he did somewhere along the line will suit your taste.

And I hope your daughter wasn't embarrassed. "School's Out" is still an anthem among children today. I work with kids on a daily basis, and although they have no idea who Alice Cooper is, they know that one song.

And BÖC is a great band. The only songs from them you'll likely hear on a radio are the big three - "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "Godzilla", and "Burnin' For You". I have the majority of their albums, so I could make plenty of recommendations. They're not really a band that suits many people's tastes, however. Their lyrical content and approach to music is sort of strange, with a lot of emphasis on science fiction, extraterrestrial, and paranormal themes, and much of their music is "Hit or miss".
One video on YouTube stands out to me as amazing though, and it's a performance of their song "Veteran of the Psychic Wars". The guitar solo still gives me goosebumps, and is my favourite solo of all time.

Hehehe, I've liked the guy ever since I heard he (supposedly) tried to chat Matt Bellamy up. I don't listen to his music, but he earned my utmost respect with that. XD

I haven't posted a list before because I find it hard to decided so atm it is:

1) Rammstein
2) Metallica
3) Spiderbait
4) Powderfinger
5) Goldfrapp

1 and 2 will always remain unchanged. 3 and 4 are Aussie bands. 5 is weird but I have been listening to them alot lately.
